This website is dedicated to the memory of our Husband and Father, Stephen W. Camelbeek — a man who lived his life to serve others as a High School teacher, Track & Cross Country coach, St Lawrence Catholic Church parishioner, Volunteer Firefighter, Basketball Official, and mentor to the community.
To honor his memory, we have created a fund to build a memorial fitness and recreation facility for the community of DeRuyter. Fitness was so important to him, so our goal for this project is to have a place for students and the residents of DeRuyter to achieve any fitness goal they desire, and for the student athletes of DCS to have a real place to train and compete. This facility will be within walking distance for the community.
Thanks to the DCS School Board and the citizens of the Town of DeRuyter, a beautiful Track and Field facility has been built. It looks AMAZING! As you walk through the gate, you will see a lovely plaque dedicating the facility to Coach C. What an honor and blessing.
With continued fundraising we hope to eventually add a press box, maybe a walking/running trail or even a weight room, whatever the DCS student athletes need to help them achieve even more greatness.
We thank you for visiting and encourage you to read the stories and look through the pictures in hopes that you are able to learn a little more about Steve… Dad… or Coach C and the people he has inspired.
